Bush Calls for More Arctic Drilling -- Urge Congress to Act Now!

Bush Calls for More Arctic Drilling - Urge Congress to Act Now!

So far, it's been a pretty bad week for polar bears.

President Bush announced his 2009 budget on Monday, once again calling for opening the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling by 2010. And yesterday the Bush administration started selling off prime polar bear habitat in Alaska for oil drilling - despite mounting evidence that its own scientists have questioned the legality and environmental impact of these sales.

Urge Congress to act immediately to protect the Arctic Refuge from drilling forever!

By now you've probably heard the bleak news: scientists predict America's polar bears could go extinct in 50 years. Melting sea ice due to global warming, trophy hunting, and now renewed efforts to drill for oil in polar bears' vanishing home all threaten these majestic bears.

Protecting the Arctic Refuge has never been so critical. Even with a pending decision on protecting polar bears under the Endangered Species Act, the Arctic Refuge is the most important on-shore denning habitat for our declining polar bears.

Polar bears can’t afford to lose this land to oil drilling ... or wait for the Bush Administration to protect this special place.

Polar bears can't take much more abuse. Urge Congress to act immediately to keep the Bush administration's oily hands off the Arctic Refuge!

Thank you for making a difference today,
